St. Clair Software has announced an update to App Tamer, its Macintosh utility that automatically pauses applications to deliver more efficient CPU usage and increased battery life. App Tamer version 1.0.2 increases its intelligence, improves compatibility and reduces its own CPU usage.
What's New:
App Tamer 1.0.2 will intelligently monitor applications, making sure its AutoStop feature does not interrupt downloads in your web browser or stop iTunes while it's playing music. The user interface is smarter, showing you more information and allowing you to turn off AutoStop for a certain amount of time. This version does more but consumes less CPU time, and also addresses a number of issues reported by App Tamer users. These include errors in CPU usage readings when running under Mac OS 10.5, interactions with OS X's spindump utility, and better compatibility with Parallels Desktop and the Finder.
Pricing and Availability:
App Tamer 1.0.2 is a free update for registered users. It is $14.95 (USD) for Mac users who have not purchased it yet. Please see the St. Clair Software web site for a full change log and additional feature information.
