Apple is holding a special press event October 22nd at 10 a.m. Pacific Time. Here's a look at what the company is expected to announce.
New iPads:
Numerous sources have confirmed that Apple will be announcing a new iPad and a new iPad mini tomorrow. The iPad 5 is said to feature an iPad mini like design with narrow side bezels. It will reportedly be thinner and lighter as well. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts a 64-bit A7X processor and a 8MP back camera with a larger aperture.
The iPad mini 2 is said to feature a Retina Display with a resolution of 2048x1536. It's predicted to have an A7 processor.
It's unclear whether either the iPad 5 or iPad mini 2 will be available in Apple's new gold color or whether either device will feature Apple's new Touch ID Fingerprint Sensor. We've seen some leaked photos; however, their authenticity is questionable.
OS X Mavericks:
Apple has already seeded two GM builds of OS X Mavericks to developers indicating that its public release is just around the corner. It's expected that Apple will either release OS X Mavericks tomorrow or announce its release date and price.
MacBook Pros:
Apple has yet to update its MacBook Pros with Intel's new Haswell processor. This will bring an improvement in performance and battery life. While there has been no concrete evidence that the notebooks will see a refresh at the event, the update is overdue.
iLife and iWork Apps:
Apple accidentally leaked new icons for its iWork and iLife apps including: iPhoto, GarageBand, iMovie, Pages, Numbers, and Keynote. It's likely that the company will unveil some updates to these applications tomorrow.
Apple TV:
Apple is unlikely to introduce a major update to its television product tomorrow; however, there is a possibility that we could see a spec bump to the existing Apple TV. Apple has made some significant software updates to the device in recent months and more powerful hardware perhaps with 802.11ac support would be well received.
Mac Pro:
We've already received a sneak peak at Apple's new Mac Pro; however, the company has yet to announce a concrete release date or price. It's possible that both will be unveiled tomorrow.
New Displays:
With Apple's new Mac Pro being able to support up to three 4K displays, it would make sense for the company to unveil a new display for release alongside the desktop. There's not been any leaks to support this; however, the idea has been floating around.
