EMI has released their 2009/2010 Annual Review in which they list a 'substantial dependence' on iTunes as a principal risk faced by the company.
"The substantial dependence on a limited number of online music stores, in particular the iTunes Store, for the online sale of music recordings, and the resultant significant influence that they can exert over the pricing structure for online music stores"
EMI has often been criticized for refusing to allow the Beatles to sell their music through iTunes. "It's been business hassles", according to Sir Paul McCartney. "Not with us, or iTunes. It's the people in the middle, the record label. There have been all sorts of reasons why they don't want to do it."
EMI insists it's working hard to sort out the situation saying, "Discussions are ongoing. We would love to see The Beatles' music available for sale digitally."
