Pod2G Finds Another Untethered Jailbreak Vulnerability for iOS

Pod2g has announced that he's found another untethered jailbreak vulnerability.

Hey, another untethered vulnerability found ! :-)

Look at the registers, all are controllable :-)

This is excellent news for jailbreakers many of which have been without an untethered jailbreak for quite some time.

Both comex and the Chronic Dev-Team have untethered jailbreaks in the works. The Chronic Dev-Team recently demonstrated theirs and plans to release it soon.

If you have your iOS 4.2b3 SHSH blobs saved and need to untether you can follow this Mac tutorial. An upcoming update to redsn0w will bring support for iOS 4.1 SHSH blobs and Windows.

Deutsche Bank analyst says there’s no return to BlackBerry after iPhone & iPad trial…

Proving good products do their own marketing Apple’s taken a giant thumbs-up from its growing enterprise market with no less than Deutsche Bank declaring there’s “no going back” to BlackBerry after an “overwhelmingly positive” iPhone trial.

The bank had been testing Apple’s iPad internally. Deutsche Bank Equity Research’s Chris Whitmore says it has been running a two month trial of iPhones using Good Technology’s secure e-mail application.

The email solution uses Microsoft Exchange through a custom interface which makes the process seem similar to using a Gmail account on an iPhone, and the experience has been so good the company is convinced.

The result “was a fantastic experience as it was easier/faster to access data (touch UI) than on the Blackberry. It was also great to only have to carry one device for personal and corporate email access,” Whitemire told FinExtra.

There’s some criticism regarding background email downloading and some of status message alerts, despite which “positives far outweigh” these. Whitmore says there’s no going back after the trials and suggest there will be large deployments of the Apple devices across the bank.

80 per cent of Fortune 100 enterprises are deploying or have deployed the iPad according to Apple’s COO Tim Cook.

Other banks testing iPhones at present include Bank of America, Citi, JP Morgan Chase, Standard Chartered and UBS. Which is very bad news for BlackBerry — and good news too for the iPad…

SD Card Slot Rumors for the iPad 2 Were Incorrect?

Rumors that the next generation iPad will feature an SD Card slot may be incorrect, according to an AppleInsider source.

In a mockup analysis of all the openings and recesses in those cases, it was speculated that that left-side opening could represent the much-rumored SD Card slot. However, a person that AppleInsider trusts on matters such as these has since rebutted that notion, stating instead that the break in the next-gen iPad enclosure at that location is actually a relocation of the tablet's SIM card slot. (This could signal a smaller logic board in the next iPad and better battery life via and even larger battery).

That being said, Engadget's report on the iPad 2 having a SD Card slot was also from a 'concrete' source. No one really know what will be released until it actually is...

Active Storage to Offer Xserve Replacement?

Active Storage may be set to offer a replacement for the Xserve which Apple is discontinuing at the end of the month, according to a MacRumors report.

Active Storage has updated its website with a teaser for an apparently new product set to debut on January 31st just as Apple discontinues the Xserve. The teaser image appears to show a rackmountable hardware unit, seemingly in a 2U form factor, covered with a black cloth. While the company has released no other information about the forthcoming product, it does appear as though Active Storage is preparing to fill the void left by the Xserve's discontinuation, quite possibly with Apple's blessing and assistance.

The company was created in 2008 by former Apple employees after Apple discontinued its Xserve RAID offerings.
