Apple Has Officially Released iOS 7! Download It Here

Apple has officially released iOS 7, the long awaited revamp of its mobile operating system. Currently the update is available only via OTA update (from iOS Devices via Settings menu)

“iOS 7 is completely redesigned with an entirely new user interface and over 200 new features, so it’s like getting a brand new device, but one that will still be instantly familiar to our users,” notes Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of Software Engineering.

Apple engineered iOS 7 to take full advantage of the advanced 64-bit technologies in iPhone 5s, including the native 64-bit kernel, libraries and drivers. All the built-in apps have been re-engineered for 64-bit, and iOS 7 provides a seamless developer transition with Xcode support and the ability to run both 32-bit and 64-bit apps. iOS 7 also provides deep integration with the new Touch ID sensor and takes full advantage of the new iSight camera sensor to enable new features like automatic image stabilization, Burst Mode and Slo-Mo video with 120 fps. Combined with the new Camera App in iOS 7, iPhone 5s provides up to two-times faster auto-focus, faster photo capture and better dynamic range. iOS 7 is designed to complement the gorgeous exteriors of iPhone 5c, with matching wallpapers and translucency that carry the color through the entire experience.

Highlighted New Features:
● Control Center, which gives you quick access to the controls you want in one convenient place with just one swipe from the bottom of your screen;
● Notification Center, now available from the Lock screen so you can see all your notifications with a simple swipe, and the new Today feature gives you an at-a-glance view of your day with a summary of the important details such as weather, traffic, meetings and events;
● Improved Multitasking that gives users the ability to switch between their apps in a more visual and intuitive way, and iOS 7 pays attention to which apps you use most and automatically keeps your content up to date in the background;
● AirDrop, an entirely new way to quickly and easily share content with people nearby;
● New Camera app filters so you can add real-time photo effects, a square camera option, and you can quickly and easily switch between your four cameras—video, photo, square and panorama—with just a swipe;
● A redesigned Photos app that introduces Moments, a new way to automatically organize your photos and videos based on time and location;
● Full-screen browsing with Safari’s new redesigned user interface, the new smart search field helps simplify searching, and there’s a new view for your bookmarks and your Safari tabs;
● Siri with new male and female voices,* Twitter search integration, Wikipedia integration and Bing web searching within the app; and
● iTunes Radio, a free Internet radio service featuring over 200 stations and an incredible catalog of music from the iTunes Store, combined with features only iTunes can deliver.

Additional new iOS 7 features include a new Find My iPhone Activation Lock, that requires your Apple ID and password before you can turn off Find My iPhone, erase data or re-activate a device after it’s been remotely erased; FaceTime audio for high quality calls over a data network; and new ringtones, alarms, alerts and system sounds.

We are currently waiting for Apple to post direct firmware download links for each device. You can download iOS 7 from here when we have them:
● iPhone
● iPad
● iPod touch

Warning Jailbreakers Should Not Update to iOS 6.1.3

Jailbreakers should not update to iOS 6.1.3 as it will likely remove the ability to jailbreak.

Last month, planetbeing (David Wang) revealed that iOS 6.1.3 beta 2 patched at least one of the five bugs used to jailbreak. Specifically, the flaw in the operating system's time zone settings is no longer there.

It's very likely that Apple includes at least this patch if not others in the public release of iOS 6.1.3. We'll let you know as soon as we have confirmation from the Evad3rs; however, at this time you should not update.

It may also be prudent to save your SHSH blobs if you haven't already. Instructions can be found here: Mac, Windows.

iOS 6.1 Jailbreak to Support All 22 Device Variations

MuscleNerd, a popular hacker and member of the evad3rs, has revealed that the upcoming iOS 6.1 jailbreak will support all 22 device variations and likely the atv2.

@MuscleNerd is every other device supported?

@unicornhacker yes, every other 6.1 device variation will be supported. All TWENTY-TWO of them (omg!). Plus atv2 if it's out in time.

Unfortunately, with the exploit that's being used, the Apple TV 3 will not be supported.

@MuscleNerd @evad3rs_jb So those of us with atv3 still have to wait for a bootrom

@arovik not necessarily. Although atv3 uses far fewer services that can be tampered with, it's not isolated. But it can't use this next JB

As announced by pod2g, the team is waiting for iOS 6.1 final to drop before releasing their jailbreak. Apple recently released iOS 6.1 'Beta 5'. Interestingly, this build is not really a beta but a publicly releasable build.

Pod2g and Planetbeing Find Two New Vulnerabilities for iOS 6 Jailbreak

Pod2g and planetbeing have found two new vulnerabilities but are still missing the initial code execution for a public jailbreak release.

Yesterday we reported that pod2g and planetbeing had teamed up to do some work on the iOS 6 jailbreak. Early this morning pod2g revealed that they have found two new vulnerabilities in just a day.

Made some nice progress today with @pod2g. I think I'll try to reward myself with a nap. :)

pod2g: @planetbeing oh yeah! 2 new vulnerabilities in a day, chance was with us. But we still miss that initial code execution for a public jb :/

It's great that progress is being made. Hopefully, the two find that last piece of the puzzle and are able to release their jailbreak to rest of us.

Planetbeing Has Untethered Jailbreak for iOS 6.0.2, Explains Delay in Release

Planetbeing reveals on Reddit that he already has an untethered jailbreak of iOS 6.0.2 on his device and explains why it hasn't been released yet.

Yeah, I'm not really sure what all the doom and gloom is about. The fact is, I have an untethered iOS 6.0.2 JB running on my iPhone 5 right now. The reasons it's not released are because 1. releasing it would burn an exploit we want to save for ourselves so we can always get in to look at new firmware and help JB in the future, 2. iOS 6.1 is coming very soon and will likely break a small part of it anyway, there's no point in sacrificing the many bugs it won't break.

Anyway, where there are 4+ bugs (that it took to get this to work), there's gotta be one or two more so while jailbreaking is getting harder, reports of its death are highly exaggerated.

Planetbeing's comments come after Pod2g encouraged Twitter users to demand an open iOS from Apple leading to speculation that the Dev-Team had given up.

Spixi a better way to charge & sync your iPhone and Android

"Introducing Spixi a new kind cable for smartphones. It is slim and sleek- unlike any cable you've seen before.

Spixi features a unique, retracting 2-foot cable made from an eco-friendly thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) that is stronger and more durable than polyvinyl chloride, the commonly used material for cables. Because of TPE's superior characteristics, we can design a thinner cable without sacrificing quality and performance.

Yes, we've heard about iPhone 5

Spixi comes in 3 different connector flavors: iPhone 5 (8-pin), iPhone 4/4S (and previous versions), and Micro-USB (Android, Blackberry, Windows).

The world's FIRST jam-free retractable USB cable for smartphones

A high level of design and quality- is unheard of, in the retractable USB cable world. It's our pleasure to change that.

How big is it really?

Let's take a look.

Product features

A connector like you've never seen before

The connector is sideways. This helps minimize the compactness of the design. Because the connector is oriented on its side, the chance for damaging the connector is greatly reduced.

USB flips up, up, and away

The USB connector folds away. This allows Spixi to maintain it's streamline design so it won't get caught with other items while you're taking it out of your bag.

Stays in shape to impress you

Spixi is slim. So slim that it will not interfere with the other USB ports on your laptop, so you- the user will never have to compromise. It's just slightly wider than your typical USB flash drive.

Made for on-the-go

The case is made of polycarbonate, similar to the macbook chargers. This gives protection to the cable when it is stowed and on-the-go. It will give users peace of mind, knowing that their cable is housed around solid construction.

Let's talk AND charge

Don't sacrifice freedom for portability. The popular emergency and short cables are great for certain situations, however, they put your phone in a paralytic state. Spixi's 2-foot cable is long enough to take calls or open apps comfortably, all while charging and syncing through your laptop.

And here's how you can help

We need to raise $30,000- to make Spixi come to life. The funds raised will be used to cover the tooling costs of the production molds.

A rigorous effort has been made to choose the right supplier for this product. And we're proud to say, that we've found a good match. We've been in communication with Spixi's supplier for the past 6 months, and can confirm that the our high level of quality can be met. They make product for some of the biggest names in technology, so we are confident. The supplier is located in China and we have a planned visit in the coming weeks- very exciting!

If funding is successful by November 1, we plan to ship in February 2013.

Why does it take so long to make?

We are all about transparency, so here is the breakdown: it takes 2 months to make the tooling, about 1 month to produce the units and address production quality, and an additional month for the products to arrive to our shores. So if tooling starts in November, we're looking at February to delivery Spixi to our awesome supporters!

Spixi specs

Dimensions: 2" x 2.25" x 0.75" (50.8mm x 57.2mm x 19.1mm)
Cable Length: 2' (0.61m)
USB 2.0
iPhone 5 Connector: 8-pin
iPhone 4/4S Connector: 30-pin
Android, Blackberry, Windows Connector: Micro-USB
White/Black Edition Materials: Polycarbonate, TPE
Limited/Angel Edition Materials: Anodized Aluminum, Polycarbonate, TPE
We are really proud of our product, and that's why we have a patent pending."

One amazingly simple solution to tangled and torn cables! With a great attention to detail, it is an attractive design(if you can say that about a USB cable, idk).

iPhone Dev-Team Releases RedSn0w and PwnageTool Updates to Jailbreak iOS 5.1.1

The iPhone Dev-Team has released updates to PwnageTool, RedSn0w, and CInject that bring support for the iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak.

RedSn0w
redsn0w allows owners of A4+earlier devices to install rocky-racoon two different ways:
● backup/restore method similar to Absinthe and cinject
● its traditional limera1n-based ramdisk install. If you have a lot of media on your A4 device (music, movies, TV shows, etc), then the ramdisk method is preferrred because it avoids any possibility of later problems related to syncing to iCloud (including Photo Stream and Music Match). The ramdisk method is not available for A5 devices or later because limera1n can't be used. If you'd like to use redsn0w's ramdisk method, just be sure to put the A4 device in DFU or Recovery mode before starting redsn0w (otherwise it will immediately start to use the backup/restore method).

We've also added a new redsn0w feature specifically for those who got in on the SAM unlock: you can now include your SAM tickets as part of your initial ramdisk jailbreak of iPhone4 or earlier, or alternatively you can upload your SAM tickets to any device after its been jailbroken. redsn0w accepts either the individual SAM activation ticket plist file, or the entire zip file created by redsn0w's "Backup" button. As usual, redsn0w continues to cover all of its previous jailbreaks and untethers (so redsn0w-0.9.12b1 covers everything from 5.1.1 all the way back to 4.1).

PwnageTool
PwnageTool also avoids any possible sync issues, but again it applies only to A4+earlier devices. If you unlock your iPhone with ultrasn0w or a commercial method, you must use PwnageTool to avoid updating your baseband otherwise you'll lose the unlock. PwnageTool will also jailbreak+untether the AppleTV2,1 5.0_2B206f (unless you customize the IPSW further, you'll have just basic SSH access to the device).

Contributions:
If you'd like to contribute to those that actually developed rocky-racoon, please visit here (any other links you may see are not going to the actual rocky-racoon developers, they're being diverted to other "related" or fraudulent accounts).

This particular jailbreak brought an unusual amount of fanfare and hoopla to the table, including "press releases" and other haughty silliness. We'd just like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that jailbreaking is about freedom, not fame and donations!

Rocky Racoon Package Untethers Your Previously Tethered Jailbreak

The Chronic Dev-Team has released Rocky Racoon 5.1.1, a package in Cydia that will untether your device if it is currently running a tethered jailbreak of iOS 5.1.1.

Rocky Racoon is the underlying untethered exploit that will be installed by popular jailbreak tools such as redsn0w and absinthe... if you are using 5.1.1 and you can reboot your device and have it still be jailbroken, you have Rocky Racoon.

If you device relies on Rocky Racoon for untethering, which includes nay iPad 2, iPad 3, or iPhone 4S running 5.1.1., uninstalling this package will unjailbreak your device.

You can install Rocky Racoon from the System section in Cydia.
