Nokia Siemens, one of the world's top suppliers of cellular infrastructure, claims that iOS 4.2 ships with a new technology called network-controlled fast dormancy which better optimizes how the phone connects to the network. Furthermore, Nokia Siemens claims that network-controlled fast dormancy provides better battery life and less unnecessary network utilization.
Nokia discovered the technology in the OS by conducting its own tests and not by working with Apple on implementing it. Nokia Siemens was also quick to point out that it had implemented the technique in all of its smartphones starting earlier this year.
*thanks iclarified*
Wait a sec, did nokia say they have implemented something apple created into their devices also while not working with apple, and while testing ios to imitate it's features in it's own os??
