Chpwn's Jailbreak to be Reserved as 'Failbreak' for iOS Jailbreak Developers Only

Chpwn has revealed that his jailbreak of iOS 6 will be reserved as a 'failbreak' for iOS jailbreak developers only.

@chpwn: RT @AlexEHeath: They have a "failbreak" for iOS 6 (likely what we all saw on @chpwn's iPhone 5), but it's only for devs and can't be released to the public

@chpwn: Just to clarify: what @pod2g meant is that the "failbreak" is for jailbreak developers (e.g. @iphone_dev, @chronicdevteam, etc).

It's our understanding that this 'failbreak' will make it easier for the dev teams to find public jailbreaks for each version of iOS 6 going forward.

This is the first jailbroken iPhone 5

Unless Mossberg or Pogue knocked it last week, @Chpwn (Grant Paul) has the first jailbroken iPhone 5 which he posted to his Twitter account a few minutes ago. It is usually common courtesy to give Apple devices 24 hours before Jailbreaking but someone apparently couldn’t help themselves. More below:

Here’s the Cydia homepage on the iPhone 5:

Planetbeing, MuscleNerd, and P0sixninja Help Pod2g With A5 Untethered Jailbreak

Pod2g has announced that Planetbeing, MuscleNerd, and P0sixninja have joined his effort to release an untethered jailbreak of the iPhone 4S and iPad 2.

@planetbeing, the legendary hacker behind iPhone Linux and lot of jailbreaks has joined the A5 research! The famous @MuscleNerd, the leader of the iPhone Dev Team, who did a lot of tests for Corona and whom integrated it and made it simple in redsn0w is willing to help also. And last, but not least @p0sixninja, the leader of the Chronic Dev Team, and my partner for years on iPhone security research has started to code and fuzz the Apple sandbox.

We now have a dream team to find a path for a public release of the A5 jailbreak. Cross your fingers.

Yesterday, pod2g posted a FAQ on why the A5 jailbreak had not been released yet. The key reason being that the exploit used to inject the untethering files to the 4S relies on having a developer account.

With the help of planetbeing, MuscleNerd, and p0sixninja, pod2g is hoping to find a distributable exploit to remount the system partition read/write and to set Corona files at the correct places.

Chpwn Releases Maximizer Tweak to Add Fullscreen Support to All OS X Lion Apps

Chpwn has announced the release of Maximizer, a new tweak for Mac OS X Lion that adds fullscreen support to every app.

Maximizer is Lion's full-screen apps, but for every app. It adds support for Lion's full-screen to apps like Chrome and Firefox (which haven't yet been updated to support it) as well as ones like TextMate, which might never gain that support. It should work with any Cocoa app, but not Carbon ones.

There may still be issues with Maximizer since its in beta; however, you can find instructions on how to install the tweak at this link...

ListLauncher Adds a List of All Your Apps to the Spotlight Page

ListLauncher is a new tweak by chpwn that adds a list of all your apps to the Spotlight page.

Sometimes you know what app you want, but not where it is. You could type it into Spotlight, but that takes to long. What you want is a list of all your apps, sorted by name. ListLauncher adds that to the Spotlight page -- but keeps Spotlight around for when you want it.

ListLauncher is available free from the BigBoss Cydia repository.
